I had to mention a good read for dog lovers (or science buffs). The book is called “The Wolf in the Parlor: The Eternal Connection Between Humans and Dogs” by Pulitzer Prize winner Jon Franklin. Building on evolutionary science, archaeology, behavioral science, and his own experience with his dog Charlie, Franklin discusses that man and dog are more than just inseperable; they are part and parcel of the same creature. Nearly 25 years ago, Franklin received an old photo in the mail: It was a photo of a 12,000 year old grave of a man buried with his little puppy or I should say wolf cub. (the oldest artifact of the man/dog relationship). Pretty cool what this photo and Franklin’s book says about the history of the human/canine relationship.
