The Most Expensive Dog In The World

imagesPurchasing a pure bred pup can get really expensive. Well, this story coming out of China gives “expensive pets” a new meaning. A special breed of Mastiff, the Red Tibetan Mastiff to be exact, recently sold for over $1.5 million. A wealthy coal industrialist from China has made international headlines with his pricey purchase of an 11-month-old, 180-pound pup, named “Hong Dong,” meaning “big splash” in Chinese.

The Red Tibetan Mastiff’s connection to ancient Chinese history makes them all the more special. Genghis Khan and Lord Buddha are said to have owned Mastiffs. These unique furry friends are viewed as “pure Chinese” and very few are left in Tibet.

All I can say is this Mastiff better be his best friend and more for that price.
