It’s that time of year when I get excited to see all the Oscar nominated movies, but one movie was not nominated that really should have been. ”My Dog Tulip” was somehow missed for the best animated feature category! These are the three animated features that were nominated: “How to Train Your Dragon,” “The Illusionist,” and “Toy Story 3.” “My Dog Tulip” is really an animated movie made for adults. The touching film is narrated by Christopher Plummer and is based on the 1956 memoir by J. R. Ackerley, which explores a lonely man’s devotion toward his pet.
This film captures the soul of a dog and how lucky we are to have them in our lives, however long. It is one of the best love stories. Five stars all the way. Now I plan to read the book next.

I’m always curious about dog intelligence. I often wonder if my beagle Oliver can really understand some of the words I’m saying. I’ve heard before that dogs can comprehend many words and develop actual vocabularies. So cool. Even cooler is the border collie named Chaster who was able to recognize 1,022 toys by name. He was trained for three years [...]

We all know it is important to think about children and safety during Halloween, but it is just as important to be smart about our pets during the excitement. The ASPCArecommends taking some common sense precautions. For example, candy is a big no no for fluffy. Chocolate in all forms—especially dark or baking chocolate—can be [...]

Have you ever felt like your best buddy was smiling at you? Can dogs really smile? Well, we know animals have different ways of expressing their emotions like tail wagging and howling, but sometimes, it seems as if they have similar emotions to us. And sometimes we just want to see our pets act like us, [...]

As a fellow beagle owner, this story definitely made me feel good. A little lost beagle was brought back to his family. Gil Garcia and his family were reunited with their beloved dog, Bandit, Wednesday at an animal shelter in Carlsbad and shelter officials credit the reunion with the identification microchip implanted in the dog. [...]
