It’s that time of year when I get excited to see all the Oscar nominated movies, but one movie was not nominated that really should have been. ”My Dog Tulip” was somehow missed for the best animated feature category! These are the three animated features that were nominated: “How to Train Your Dragon,” “The Illusionist,” and “Toy Story 3.” “My Dog Tulip” is really an animated movie made for adults. The touching film is narrated by Christopher Plummer and is based on the 1956 memoir by J. R. Ackerley, which explores a lonely man’s devotion toward his pet.
This film captures the soul of a dog and how lucky we are to have them in our lives, however long. It is one of the best love stories. Five stars all the way. Now I plan to read the book next.
