“Best in Show” Goes to Stump the Spaniel
Stump the Sussex spaniel was pretty impressive on Tuesday night when he took home the Best in Show prize. Talk about looking great for your age, this pooch just turned 1o and became the oldest winner at the Westminister Kennel Club. The droopy eyed spaniel is named “Stump” because he resembles a tree stump and has stubby legs. Stump came out of retirement for this show after suffering an unusual medical condition. He had a miraculous recovery and without having any recent training he wooed the crowd and the judges. It’s back to his hometown Houston now to relax before hitting the dog circuit.
I was a little more interested in this year’s Westminister show since last year Uno, the adorable beagle, won my heart. I was curious what pup would stand out this year. The beagle’s popularity had a huge spike after the show and I was probably one of the many people who decided to become a beagle parent. Not just beacuse of the show, but it’s funny how my husband and I found ourselves reading about beagles online soon after. I wonder how many more Sussex spaniels we will start seeing walking down dog beach?
