Cute or Downright Cruel…Wigs for Dogs?

Just when you think your furry friend has everything, think again.  You can give your best buddy a whole new look with a wig made especially for him.  I have a feeling if my beagle, Oliver, could talk he would be urging me to pass on this purchase.  Then again, he could really be longing for a makeover.

Wiggles designs and manufactures wigs for dogs.  It all started twenty years ago when wig maker Ruth Regina was asked to make a wig for her friend’s dog.  It completely snowballed from there.  Now her wigs have received worldwide press and have even been featured on David Letterman and the Today Show.  The wigs start at $32.95, and are made from a washable synthetic fiber.  These unique wigs have holes for the ears and are adjusted under the chin with a strap.

Wiggles is not the only company out there dreaming up ways to embarrass your pet.  Total Diva Pets markets a line of eight fashionable wigs on their website at the starting price of $29.95.

I think I will just let Oliver be Oliver right now, but maybe one day I will decide to transform him for the day.
