Pet Postcard Project…Helps Save Lives
Back in 2007, the Pet Postcard Project was launched by Nikki Moustaki as a way to help raise funds for shelter animals in need. Every postcard that was sent in meant a donation towards the shelters. As the word got out, increasing numbers of dog lovers began sending in postcards. The expanding number of postcards meant an expanded number of donations from companies to shelters, as well. The postcards feature pictures of everyday dogs and captions written by their parents.
To inspire people to send in cards and to be creative, Moustaki awards prizes for various categories, such as “Cutest Puppy,” “Funny Dog,” “Naughty Dog,” “Snuggliest Dog,” and more. The Pet Postcard Project has raised about 90,000 pounds of dog food and $18,000 since its 2007 inception and growing. So, why not snap a photo of your pooch and turn it into a postcard today? I sure feel inspired after learning of this awesome cause and I am going to send my postcard of Oliver in this week!
