Pregnant Pooch Delivers Sixteen Pups

preg-pup.jpgYou might think “Octo Mom” is busy, but how about Tesa, the border collie mix, who recently gave birth to 16 pups and they all survived.  Tesa actually began delivering pups in Delaware en route to New Jersey, causing Danielle Ruotolo and her friend who was driving to pull over and help birth the puppies on the side of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.  Ruotolo works with a dog-rescue group that specializes in pregnant dogs called Protecting Unborn Pups, or P.U.P.S, a nonprofit organization.

Ruotolo’s shelter has helped rescue and place 240 dogs.  The good news is Tesa is healthy, as are her 16 fun-loving golden and black-haired pups. She’s already found a home for Tesa, but will keep her with the puppies a while longer.

Ruotolo said she hears about pregnant dogs needing rescuing through various internet sites that track them. She’s rescued dogs from up and down the East Coast.
