February is Pet Dental Health Month
It’s important to remember to keep your canine companion’s teeth clean and healthy all year round. This month is a good reminder though, on just how important it really is. Oral hygeine can be easily overlooked, but it is an essential part of caring for your pet. We all know our furry friends can often have “doggie breath”, I know Oliver occasionally scares me away. If your pet has a case of chronic halitosis it could be a sign of something more serious. A number of causes may be responsible for this condition, notably periodontal disease, a disease resulting from bacteria in the mouth.
Daily home care is important, but dogs also need a professional cleaning about once a year (give or take depending on the dog). Many vets offer discounts in honor of National Pet Dental Health Month, so it is definitely a good time to set up a dental exam or cleaning for your buddy.
