Fido Needs to Eat His Veggies Too
Just as we encourage our kids to eat their veggies rather than cake and candy, we can also encourage a love for veggies in our pets. The low calorie, low fat, vitamin and mineral-packed “treats” are a great alternative to the packaged dog biscuits and kitty chews. I’m realizing that alot of those packaged pet snacks and treats are really the equivalent of dog candy. It isn’t bad if they get a few here and there, but it is best to limit it since they are mostly devoid of nutritional value.
Did you know dogs can eat celery? And many love it as a treat along with other veggies like carrots. Caution: Celery is a diuretic and therefore should not be given to dogs displaying signs of, or having confirmed cases of renal failure. Also-keep in mind dogs should not have onions, grapes or raisins as they can be toxic to their systems.
